Chris has been working in the painting industry since 1972 and has served as president of Nelson J. Greer Painting since 1985. Chris started working as a young boy during the summers and weekends until starting full time in 1980. His father, Nelson, believed that he needed to understand the paint business from the ground up and that was how he was taught. Since taking over as president in 1985, Greer Painting has completed over $150 million dollars in painting, won several awards, and increased the scope of business to include the State of Arizona as well as some projects in California and New Mexico.
As a native Tucsonan, he has always been an active member of the community both personally and professionally. He is an active member of industry-related associations including the Arizona Construction Trades (ACT), Arizona Builder’s Alliance (ABA), and the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA). He also sat on the Board for the Arizona Prompt Payment Act. As an active member of PDCA, Chris has helped generate thousands of dollars for the Center of Women and Children for the past 10 years and has organized many other charity events that have benefited the Tucson community.
As a skilled craftsman, Chris has had years of experience learning how to match colors, create special finishes, finish wood, special paint systems, paint problem solving, plastics, textures, floor coatings, specialty caulking, wall-covering, all phases of Faux painting (see project page), as well as specializing in CMAR projects, design build, theme projects, color, and budgets.
Brian, like Chris, has been working in the paint industry since he was an early teen, spending summers working for the company in the shop, and as he got older out in the field. While attending college, he worked part time during the school year in the office learning how to estimate and put together paint proposals. During the summers, he would often manage numerous job sites in addition to providing estimates.
Brian started full-time after graduating from the University of Arizona in December of 2009. Since then he has gained a lot of invaluable experience as an estimator and a project manager. He has taken the time to learn about the products, equipment, and skills needed to complete a high-quality paint job. Some of the projects he is most proud of to date include the renovation of McKale Center ( The University of Arizona’s basketball arena), Tucson Premium Outlets, and Fountainhead Plaza (located in Tempe, AZ) to name a few.
He has also been an active member in the paint and local communities. He served as the President of the PDCA’s Tucson chapter for two years from 2011-2012. He has also helped organize and run paint crews for numerous charity projects around Tucson.
Stephanie started with Nelson J. Greer Painting in December of 2006, and 2016 is her 10th year with our company. Prior to working with us, she worked for a local general contractor, and before that worked in the Financial Division of Pima County for 15 years. After going from a government job into the private sector, she was able to teach herself several different accounting programs, the construction industry lingo, and many different policies and procedures that are unique to construction. She is a Mom to a beautiful lady and Grandma (Nonnie) to an amazing 13 year old boy. She and her husband of 12 years, Joe, enjoy challenging each other to tricky pool (billiards) games, going to rock concerts, and traveling as much as their schedules allow.
